Do you like parties? So do we. Next Wednesday, July 1st at Stevens Square in Minneapolis, we'll be having a little party of our own to celebrate our 200th live performance. It's all going down as part of the Cinema & Civics program. STNNNG will be followed by a viewing of the classic movie Labyrinth, featuring David Bowie's codpiece.

This party is free, all-ages, and our show will be over by dusk, so you should get there early (say 7:30ish).

Here's a quick update regarding next week's show:
SICBAY IS NOW PLAYING IN PLACE OF YOUNG WIDOWS.

Young Widows canceled their tour. The show goes on.

May 6, 2009
We added another show. In fact, this particular event is two weeks from tomorrow - STNNNG, Young Widows, Falcon Crest and Getting Even at the Turf Club on Thursday, May 21st. It's our first local show of STNNNG material in 6 months, and our first show overall this year. You should come. And I mean YOU.

April 21, 2009
We've added a pair of arts-related, limited-engagement performances to our calendar for the summer. Both events are all ages, weeknight events, and at least one - but possibly both - are free of charge. Check out the SHOWS page for more details!

"Summer Bummer" is continuing to come along. 8 tracks are in varying stages of completion, and we're hoping to have all basic tracking finished by summer. While nothing is set in stone at this point, I'm optimistic about a late summer release. I hope to have a larger update about the record by the end of May.

Work continues on our new album. In addition to "Cat's Eyes", we've posted another NEW HIT, "Sweet Jam", over on our Myspace. As of now, the record is looking like it will weigh in at 10 songs and a whopping 38 minutes or so. Epic?

Also, it appears that famed interview Mark Prindle has recommended us on his recently-posted article, Micro-Reviews of Hip New Bands That the Kids Dig. Thanks, Mark!

The STNNNG/Signal to Trust split 7" was given away for free at Lunch Show 5 at the 7th Street Entry on November 17, 2007. Modern Radio sold out of the remaining copies last fall, and as there are no plans to re-press this release, we've decided to make it available for free on our website. You can download the entire split in uncompressed AIFF (Right-click to save: 62 MB .ZIP file), or you can download 192kbps MP3s of each STNNNG "Victory Over The Sun" and Signal to Trust "Dubbed Warehousing".

Additionally, I reported yesterday that our third album is underway. We have posted a "preview" up at our Myspace page. It is called "Cat's Eyes." Check it out!

Finally, because we know nobody uses Myspace anymore, you can cruise over to Facebook and "become a fan" of STNNNG at our page over there. It's a bit sparse right now, but we will post our news updates over there as well.

Just a quick status update: We're recording! We began tracking the new record about a month ago, and while it's coming along slowly, things are progressing and I think we're getting good sounds out of our equipment. At present time, we've got 4 songs in various stages of completion: one that is more or less pieced together, two new songs that still have unwritten vocal and guitar parts, and a keeper take of an unfinished song from last year's sessions in Iowa City. We've got studio time scheduled for March 4th at Old Blackberry Way where local engineer and friend Neil Weir will be looking over our work thus far to mix it together and see if we're getting usable sounds. All indications (to these ears, anyway) are that things sound great and that this record is finally coming together.

Nate and Jesse will be on tour beginning this Friday with their other band, Private Dancer, who will also be out of town for the first half of April. Work on the album will continue while they're gone, and with any luck, we'll have a good chunk of it together by the time they get back.

We've been offered a few local shows so far for this summer, and we've confirmed them due to the unique venues and the fact that they are far enough away that they won't adversely affect our recording process. I will add them to the shows page once they are closer.

Finally, while we haven't spoken of this in quite some time, we are still planning on finishing our collaboration record with FT (The Shadow Government). Work on that will begin as soon as we've completed the major task of putting together this full-length. Everyone is very excited to get that beast out into the world.

That's all the news I have for now. I'm hoping in a few months that we'll be closer to announcing official album details and telling you all that the new record is on its way to the plant.

Until then...

This is it, folks! New Year's Eve is almost upon us. We will be performing at the Turf Club as the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. Vampire Hands and Daughters of the Sun will be appearing as well, as the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin, respectively. Come help ring in the New Year!

We have no future shows booked while we focus on recording our next album. See you when we see you.

November 16, 2008
If you've been impatiently refreshing this webpage for some kind of current STNNNG news, we are long overdue for an update.

We have acquired some recording equipment and will begin demoing songs for our new record sometime over the next week or two. Because we've been working on this material for quite some time, our immediate plan in order to focus on our album is to not book any new shows after our obligations for 2008. What this means for you is that there will be just a handful of opportunities to see us over the next couple weeks, and then not again until we either have our new album in hand, or until we have a large batch of new songs.

Twin Citians, take note: Our next show will be the only local show of our two remaining for the year where we will be performing STNNNG material live. Our New Year's Eve performance will be a cover set of select songs by the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. Of further note, Friday's show at the Turf Club happens to be a birthday celebration for two great friends - BJ Thorkelson and Brian Shuey - and we're sharing the stage with three other awesome bands: Birthday Suits, The Dynamiters & Leisure Birds (with Rat Salad playing Black Sabbath tunes in the Clown Lounge between bands). Your attendance is highly recommended.

And that's really it for new news. Old news is that we recently completed a 10-day tour around scattered U.S. cities, and it was a fucking blast. Thanks to all the bands that played with us, people who let us crash on their floors, and everyone who helped us out with booking a show, including: Mike Benker, Christopher Dee & the folks at the Schlafly Tap Room in St. Louis; Mike Shepherd; Helen from Chrissakes, Jeff from We Versus the Shark & the Caledonia Lounge in Athens; Jacques in Memphis; Mathyou and The Avenue (and everyone who stuck around since we were late) in Wichita; Colin from Mustangs and Madras and Form of Rocket for driving all the way out from SLC; Marc at 1%, Ethan Jones and Justin & Nicole O'Connor in Omaha; John Benetti at the Beat Kitchen; Jeff from Friction Records (and special thanks to him for letting us drink at his amazing bar); and Shawn Knight and all the dudes from Child Bite for hooking us up in Detroit, and playing so many of these shows with us and just for being awesome friends in general. And, of course, thanks to everyone who came out and made these shows extra special. There's a lot of people that go into making a tour happen, and we really, seriously, could not have done this without help from these folks - and that doesn't even cover everyone, because there are owners of bars we might not have met, bartenders & sound guys who make the time a pleasant experience.

Alas, tour was sweet and we're hoping to do some more of it, but nothing until we get this damn record together. We can't wait, and we hope you're excited for it, too.

See you soon.

Tickets for the Barack Obama fundraiser, "Eight is Enough: The Concert to End Our Long, National Nightmare" (feat. Low, Dosh, P.O.S., Josh/Jeremy from Tapes 'n Tapes, Kill The Vultures, Skoal Kodiak and us) go on sale tomorrow. They will be available via the Turf Club website.

Additionally, we're playing another show that weekend in Loring Park as part of the Liberty Parade. Dillinger Four, Retribution Gospel Choir, Happy Apple and a few more will also be playing.

As previously mentioned, our fall tour is booked. Information on the confirmed dates will be updated as I get them - supporting bands, ticket prices, door times, etc. - it will all be available on the shows page.

We will have new t-shirts available soon, and we are also discussing the release of a new 12" EP by the end of 2008 entitled "Summer Bummer". The who's, what's, why's, where's, when's and how's of this new release will be announced once those details are all sorted. :)

Tour is BOOKED. If you live in St. Louis, Nashville, Athens, Memphis, Wichita, Denver, Omaha, Chicago, Grand Rapids or Detroit, we're coming for you. All current information is up on the shows page.

If you live in Chicago or Lansing, we're coming to you even sooner - this weekend, in fact.

We're in the midst of writing some new songs, working on recording, and we have some new t-shirts on the way, so those of you who haven't seen us in awhile have something new to look forward to.

It feels like summer just got here, and I don't ever want it to end, but let's bring on the fall.

It appears that both LP and CD versions of Dignified Sissy are becoming extremely limited - we've got roughly 20-30 copies left of each format. If you have been holding out on picking this up, but still hope to have a physical copy to call your own, you might want to order it right away from Modern Radio before they are gone.

Fall tour is coming together splendidly - we've got half the dates confirmed, and others are in the works. Looking forward to hitting the road!

More news as it unfolds!

June 30, 2008
We have started booking dates for a 10-day trip around what we will loosely define as the "Midwest" this coming October. If you live somewhere between Athens, GA and Denver, CO, there's a chance we'll be within a few hour drive of you. Skip work and come see us. Tentative and confirmed dates have been posted on the shows page.

As always, if you are interested in having us come to your town, feel free to drop us a line. Whether you're able to help us with a date on our upcoming tour, or you live somewhere else and would like us to visit, your feedback helps us determine where we go.

Some things:

1) We've got some local shows booked for this summer, the next of which is the Modern Radio 9-year Anniversary at the Triple Rock Social Club on June 6th. We'll be joined by Yellow Swans (last TC show), Sicbay (reunion!), FT (The Shadow Government), and Church of Gravitron (been too long).

In addition to our set, we'll be doing a special set with FT(SG) performing as a 10-piece band.

2) We're figuring out a tour for the fall. Where we're going and for how long and when hasn't exactly been squared away, but it's on the table. Get excited, and tell us if we should come to your town.

3) Eclipse Records has re-opened and is again hosting all-ages shows 3 or more nights per week. If you're under 21, living in the Twin Cities, and have never seen live bands before, you've finally got that chance. Complete show listings are here. In addition to hosting all-ages shows, they're also going to have a full video & pinball arcade, and have a nice selection of records for you to buy. Support 'em. We've got something planned there for this summer, but it isn't yet announced. So shhh.

4) Dave, Brian and Pete from Signal to Trust have started a new band, Double Bird. Their first show is June 7th at the Turf Club with Tight Phantomz, Tornavalanche, Vampire Hands & His Mischief, as part of the aforementioned Modern Radio 9-year Anniversay.

5) It's spring. Get nuts.

March 20, 2008
With our recent trip down to the great state of Texas now behind us, we now set our sights to celebrate our 5th anniversary! The STNNNG: Drunk & Pissed mini-tour takes place the weekend of April 4th & 5th, with the latter date being the official anniversary of our first performance, 5 years ago! Here are the dates:

April 4th @ House of Rock in Eau Claire, WI w/ Drunk Drivers & The Rebuilts
April 5th @ Empty Bottle in Chicago, IL w/ Pissed Jeans & The Catburglars

Both shows are 21+. Advance tickets for the Empty Bottle show are available here.

We're not the only ones celebrating milestones this year: In late-May and early-June, Modern Radio will be celebrating 9 years of releasing records, with past, present & future bands of the label joining together to make things a real blowout. More information is available on their website. STNNNG will be in on the fun June 6th at the Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis.

We're heading back into the studio in mid-April to lay down some tracks for a split 12" with FT (The Shadow Government) which is expected for release later this year.

Finally, thanks to everyone who came out to our recent shows in Kansas & Austin - we had a blast!

More news soon, I promise.

February 5, 2008
The South-by-Southwest Music Festival in Austin, TX is just around the corner, and Modern Radio & Burlesque of North America have teamed up to put together a little Minnesota home-away-from-home in the thick of the action on Friday, March 14th from noon until 6pm at the Dog & Duck Pub. We will be sharing the stage with other Twin Cities luminaries in an unofficial, non-festival-sanctioned showcase that will surely blow the doors off anything that requires an expensive wristband to see.

What this means for the rest of you around the midwest is that there are a handful of opportunities to catch us over the next two months. If you live in Kansas, Texas, Wisconsin, or Illinois, take a glimpse at our SHOWS page.

In the meantime, work begins on the new record in less than two weeks, and it goes without saying that we're all pretty stoked on getting these tracks down on wax. Valentine's Day is coming up, so get your lover something nice.

January 2, 2008
Happy New Year! As previously reported in this space, much of this year will be spent in the studio recording on our third full-length album. Basic tracking commences next month, and recording will continue throughout the year while we write additional material.

What hasn't been previously reported, however, is that we are actually working on two new releases. In addition to the full-length, we are in the process of crafting songs for a 12" split that we hope to release sometime around summer. More specific details regarding that record will be announced at a future time.

STNNNG will be playing at the Turf Club in St. Paul on January 19th with Haunted House, Child Bite (Detroit) & Sarah Johnson. We have no plans to book any additional local dates at this time, so if you're hoping to see us this year and aren't willing to travel to do so, this may be your last opportunity for awhile. Discussions are underway for some out-of-town dates, including a trip down to Austin for the SXSW music festival - keep an eye on our SHOWS page for the latest upcoming dates.

Finally, if you haven't yet ordered your copy of the STNNNG/Signal to Trust split 7", you may want to hurry, as quantities are extremely limited and this release will not be re-pressed. They can be ordered direct from Modern Radio.

All the best wishes for a happy and prosperous 2008.

December 13, 2007
Those of you who missed our on-air performance on Radio K a couple weeks ago are in luck: It's now available for listening in their archives. The set features 5 new, unreleased songs, many of which may find their way on our third full-length album to be recorded in 2008.
jmw

November 22, 2007
First, the bad news: We've decided to postpone plans for a European tour indefinitely until we can dedicate more time to our travels. 10 days just isn't enough, and doesn't allow us to hit as many parts of the continent as we'd like, and financially, it doesn't make a lot of sense for us to go for that short of time.

What that means, however (and this is the good news), is that we are going to spend all of 2008 writing and recording our third full-length album. Those who have seen us live in the past few months know that we have a significant amount of new material, and we plan on getting basic tracks for those songs recorded early next year. We're really going to take our time with this one and make sure we do it right, and by the time it comes out, I think you'll all be able to hear all the work that went into it.

For those who haven't seen us recently, aren't able to, and want to hear some of the new material, we will be on Radio K's "Off The Record" next Friday, November 30th between 3-5pm CST. You can listen online on radiok.org. We will be in the 7th St. Entry later that evening with Dillinger Four & The Brokedowns.

Happy Turkey Day to all of you!

November 18, 2007
On behalf of all of the bands who played this year's Lunch Show at the 7th St. Entry, as well as the later show at the Turf Club, I would just like to offer our sincerest thanks for the amazing memories. These two shows were an extraordinary success, and none of it would be possible without each and every person who braved the cold and waited in line to help share in the experience.

If you were unable to attend this year's Lunch Show, there are limited quantities remaining of the STNNNG/Signal to Trust split 7", now available for mailorder from Modern Radio.

STNNNG is playing a show at the 7th St. Entry on November 30th with Dillinger Four and The Brokedowns, and beyond that, we will be playing very sparsely around town. Come on down! It promises to be a wild time.

Lunch Show 5 is just nine short days away! Posters from the show have been printed, as have the jackets for the STNNNG/Signal to Trust split 7", and they look incredible. Click the thumbnails below to see the images in greater detail:

We are very excited to have FT (The Shadow Government) join us for this year's festivities. In addition to the STNNNG/Signal to Trust split 7", Modern Radio will also have the new FT (The Shadow Government) CD, The Black & White Album, and Signal to Trust's newly released Double LP of Golden Armour available for the first time! Lunch Show 5 posters will also be for sale at both shows. Weather is Happening from Wichita, KS will be joining us at the Turf Club for an encore performance of what is sure to be one of the most memorable shows of the year.

Can't wait to see you there!

October 17, 2007
Test pressings for the STNNNG/Signal to Trust split 7" have been approved, and the record is now at press. The split is a sort of DC/Marvel-crossover-inspired "What if?" recording, where each band covers one song by the other. STNNNG has chosen Signal's "Victory Over The Sun", while Signal has chosen STNNNG's "Dubbed Warehousing". Both songs were recorded at Old Blackberry Way by Neil Weir. The jackets are being designed by DWITT. As previously mentioned, this record will be included with admission to Lunch Show 5, one month from today! Advance tickets are available here. Posters for Lunch Show 5 are being printed by Burlesque of North America, and will be available for sale either during or after the show.

We are now in the process of booking our European tour. Tentative dates are from May 7-21, 2008. If you live in Europe, and are interested in helping booking or promoting a show for STNNNG, please contact us.

In other release-related news, The Means/STNNNG split 7", released by Nodak Records in 2004, is now being distributed by Modern Radio. If you haven't yet picked up a copy, it can be ordered from either label.

Finally, if you like stand-up comedy, our next show at the Triple Rock might be up your alley. We are sharing the stage with The Unbookables' Andy Andrist, along with Matt Kirshen (finalist from "Last Comic Standing"), Brett Erickson & Arthur Hinty on Sunday, November 4th at the Triple Rock Social Club.

See you there!
jmw

August 26, 2007
Lunch Show 5 is confirmed! On Saturday, November 17th, STNNNG, Signal to Trust, and FT (The Shadow Government) will be loading our gear into the 7th St. Entry early to set up and prepare for the musical and culinary feast to come!

This year, each person in attendance will receive a copy of the new STNNNG/Signal to Trust split 7", courtesy of Modern Radio. This record is being pressed in limited numbers, exclusively for the Lunch Show, so the best way to secure a copy is to attend.

Additionally, those in attendance will have the first opportunity to purchase two new Modern Radio releases: FT (The Shadow Government)'s The Black & White Album on CD, and Signal to Trust's Golden Armour on vinyl.

As always, lunch will be provided, while supplies last. Advance tickets are available now from First Avenue's website. Tickets are $7, doors are at 12pm (noon), and as with previous years, the Lunch Show is all ages.

The same bands play later that evening at the Turf Club in St. Paul, with the addition of Wichita's finest, Weather is Happening. We are very excited and fortunate to have great friends in town to share in this occasion, and we hope that you will join us.

To all of you in Omaha, Lincoln & Sioux Falls: We're coming to visit next weekend. See you then!

August 6, 2007
One of the last things we did during our first Fake Fake session was lay to tape our version of ZZ Top's "Manic Mechanic". Sometime thereafter, we'd caught wind of an overseas label who was putting together a tribute compilation. Our track was submitted, but to date, we've yet to hear anything further regarding its release. In its stead, and as preparation for what's sure to be a busy several months, this recording is now available for download on the AUDIO page.

This coming Sunday, we will be at the Soap Factory for the Plaster The Town exhibit closing party. Come join us! Festivities begin at 3pm, and we take the stage at 7pm. Awesome Snakes, The Deaf, The Blind Shake & Chooglin' are also playing, and the event is free and all-ages.

Several announcements are forthcoming, including information about Lunch Show 5. Stay tuned.

ATTENTION: EUROPE!

It's a long time from now, but we've discussed it this afternoon and we are planning on booking a European tour in spring or summer 2008.

If you or someone you know books shows in France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, or anywhere in the surrounding region, and are interested in booking and promoting a show for STNNNG, please contact us. I'd like to put together a list of contacts for now, with the hopes of starting to do some more serious planning toward the end of fall/winter.

We are eager and excited to plan our first tour overseas. If you are in a band who has done this as well, we would greatly appreciate any advice or contact information you might have.

Thanks!

June 21, 2007
We are long overdue for an update.

Next month, we are playing at the 7th St. Entry for the 20th and 21st time, respectively: two shows with Kill The Vultures & Sarah Johnson, with Failed Heroes at the AA and Building Better Bombs at the 21+. It's a milestone, and it will be great to play with some bands with whom we've never shared the stage on our favorite stage.

We've done some traveling around the midwest over the last month, and plan to do more in August. For the fall, we are tentatively looking back out east. If you live out east and missed us last year, this will be your chance.

There are new songs in the works, new recordings (more details later!), and new t-shirts, too. And the buttons! Oh, if you haven't seen one, you should write us. Perhaps we can arrange to have some mailed to you.

Summer is upon us, and so far it's been amazing. May more BBQing, bicycle rides and tubing arrive in your future.

We are home! Tour was awesome, fun was had, friends were made, things were done, drives were cool, bands were sweet. Whether you came specifically to see us, or just stumbled into our show and had a good time watching us, thank you so much for coming out. Extra special thanks to those of you who gave us a place to crash, cooked us breakfast, booked our shows, or otherwise helped us in any kind of fashion. Let's do it again soon.

April is almost here, and it can't come soon enough. We're making our first venture down to Texas and back, with all sorts of great lineups every night of the tour. Check out our shows page to see if we'll be in your town.

Before we leave, we'll be playing two great shows in town, with Noxagt from Norway and Comedian/Presidential Candidate/Deadbeat Hero Doug Stanhope, respectively. Even sooner than that is something I wanted to tell you about: THE WEEKEND.

This weekend, in fact. Drunk Drivers are releasing a new album, and we have the privilege and honor of sharing the stage with them (and the charismatic Belles of Skin City) this Saturday at the House of Rock in Eau Claire - our very first time in this fine Wisconsin town. Locals both here and there are highly encouraged to attend.

In the meantime, an interview with Jesse, Jeremy & Adam is up at Minneapolis Fucking Rocks.

I'm pleased to announce that Fake Fake LPs shipped back from the pressing plant today and are now available. Special thanks to the folks over at Y-Mixx for doing a great mastering job. We are happy to finally close this chapter and to give you all the chance to hear the record the way it was originally intended. They should be available in local stores over the next couple weeks, and through various distribution outlets shortly after. We'll have LPs with us at our next show - March 10 at the Hexagon Bar - and, of course, they can be ordered directly from Modern Radio.
jmw

February 16, 2007
Our friends over at Schedule Two posted some videos of us from the Fake Fake release show back in November. Check them out!

Speaking of Fake Fake, we approved new test pressings for the LP two weeks ago, and word from Modern Radio is that they should be shipping from the pressing plant next week. If you have an original version of the LP, you can get in touch with Tom at Modern-Radio dot com and arrange for an exchange. The original LPs are not the correct weight, and the labels are on the wrong side. Additionally, the new LPs were remastered and sound significantly better. Pending any other unforseen problems, Modern Radio should be shipping Fake Fake on vinyl the week of February 26th.

In the meantime, Fake Fake is now also available for digital download from iTunes and eMusic.

We are playing a bunch of out of town dates in March & April, including some regional shows in Greater Minnesota and Western Wisconsin, and a weeklong tour to Texas and back. There are still a few unconfirmed dates, but you can see what we've got in the pipeline over on the shows page. If you can help out with any of the dates we're still trying to book, get in touch.

In the meantime, we're playing a rare all ages show at the Triple Rock tomorrow, and I'd encourage you to come out. Maps of Norway, Shoe Shiners and Baby Guts are also on the bill. Doors are at 5. See you then!

January 9, 2007
New year, new news!

Last August, as a part of the Sound Unseen Festival, we participated in the "Bands vs. Fans" bowling tournament at the Bryant Lake Bowl. The kind folks at BLB have invited us to participate once again this Sunday, January 14th. It takes place from 4-7pm, and there will be prizes and drink specials. Send them a message if you'd like to sign up. Other teams include Chooglin', Vampire Hands, Huge Rat Attacks, Attention, Ouija Radio, and members of Radio K & Drinking With Ian.

The process of booking our spring tour has begun, as we've already started confirming dates. The week-long tour begins on April 20th, and this time we will be heading to the great state of Texas and back. If you are interested in helping us with a show, don't hesitate to get in touch. We'll be hitting Omaha & Oklahoma City on the way down, and hopefully will do a couple shows in Tennessee and making our return to St. Louis on the way home.

In the meantime, those in the Twin Cities area will have a few chances to see us share the stage with a handful of great touring acts in the coming months, including Dianogah (Chicago), Child Bite (Detroit), Rent Money Big (Lincoln, NE), NOXAGT (Norway), and possibly more. More information available on the shows page.

Finally, some Fake Fake LP information: We have decided to have the vinyl lacquers cut elsewhere, and we believe we've found someone to do this. A reference lacquer should arrive in the coming week or so, and if it sounds ok, we will be able to approve it and send it to the pressing plant. At that point, a test pressing will also be made and sent to us for approval. With any luck, everything will go perfect and smoothly and we can have the records back sometime around mid- to late-February. I will post here with updates once we know more.
jmw

December 19, 2006
If you haven't heard, there have been some issues with our LP pressing and we are in the process of having it remastered & re-pressed. Things have not been going well on that front, so I'm not sure when the vinyl for Fake Fake will be available, but in the end it will be worth it to have the record sounding like it should.

For the curious, I've put up some links to reviews of the new record, as well as some post-event write-ups of the 4th Annual Lunch Show over on the press page. Enjoy!

November 30, 2006
2006 was a sweet ride - countless amazing shows, great times with friends, fresh experiences in unfamiliar towns, completing a new record. How do we possibly punctuate what has been a banner year? Why, we play a collection of awesome shows in December.

All 3 shows are special occasions in their own right: Next Thursday marks just the second time The Ex have played in the Twin Cities in their 25 year history; The 29th marks the first time we've played at the Uptown Bar in our 3 1/2 year history; and I think New Year's Eve speaks for itself. The ultimate capper, if you will, once again with great friends, and familiar, midwestern surroundings.

If you've never loved December, 2006 could be your year. It certainly has been for us.

November 19, 2006
THANK YOU to everyone for making this year's lunch show (and our album release!) a resounding success: Nate & Sonia @ First Avenue, Matty Lindquist, Gerard Boissy, Tom & Pete @ Modern Radio, our friends in Signal to Trust, Vampire Hands & Shellac, press & radio for covering the event, and of course, all of you for coming.

We're rarely in need of a reminder why it is we love being in this band, but if ever there was one, yesterday was it. Everyone involved helped make it a truly memorable time, and we're all fortunate to live in such a supportive & creative community. We are blessed with great friends.

Thank you!

Fake Fake
is now available on CD for direct mailorder from Modern Radio. We also got the test pressings back for the LPs, and those should be available in the middle of November. The album will be in local stores very shortly.

Meanwhile, we had a great time playing 3 crazy shows in Omaha & Wichita this weekend. Thanks to Koly, Dan & Matthew for setting everything up, all the bands for playing, and everyone for coming out and having a great time.

We leave for our first ever trip out east on Thursday night. It's gonna be a blast. Stay tuned!

Huge thanks to our friend Tom Stack for designing the poster for this year's lunch show & dual album release:

As previously mentioned, the new STNNNG record is called Fake Fake, and will be released on CD & LP by Modern Radio. Signal to Trust's new CD is entitled Golden Armour. This is the fourth time STNNNG & Signal have gotten together for a November lunch, and we couldn't be more pleased to celebrate the release our albums together on what has become a wonderful yearly tradition.

Prior to this momentous occasion, we'll be hitting the road for a number of dates around the Midwest & East Coast in October & early November. Check out the SHOWS page for more information - a few dates are still unconfirmed, but our tour is almost completely booked, and we're hoping to add a Milwaukee date on November 4th.

Nathan, Jesse & Jeremy will be at the Bryant Lake Bowl this Sunday, August 20, representing STNNNG in the Bands vs. Fans Bowling Tournament, part of this week's Sound Unseen Festival.

Last Monday's show in Loring Park was a ton of fun. A look at our show history reveals that it was also our 98th live performance, so we're approaching a milestone of sorts. As things currently lie, show #100 will take place at Sokol Underground in Omaha, NE on October 13. We might just have to dig deep and make this one extra special...

Finally, we're not playing locally for awhile - not until the album release shows for "Fake Fake" at the 7th St. Entry on November 18 (with Signal to Trust, who will also be releasing a long-awaited album of their own) - but we will be hitting the road. Check out the SHOWS page for our routing, and drop us a line if you can help with the unconfirmed dates.

I want to extend a huge thank you to The Plastic Constellations, Tapes 'n Tapes and Kill the Vultures for last night's show at First Avenue. There were good vibes everywhere, we all had a blast, and seeing a sell-out crowd for an all-local show in th Mainroom truly says something about this town and the way it supports its bands.

We're working on some out-of-town dates for September & October, including a week-long tour out east, so those who are hoping to see us before the weather starts to chill should come to Loring Park on August 7th for Movies & Music in the Park. It's probably going to be the only hour-long set we'll ever play, so you're likely to hear some of your favorites.

One final thing of note: The 4th Annual Lunch show is happening on Saturday, November 18th at the 7th St. Entry. This year is going to be extra special as not only will be releasing our new album, "Fake Fake", on Modern Radio, but our partners-in-lunch Signal to Trust will be dropping their new disc as well. Dual album release. Free lunch. And this year? BLOODY MARYS. It's on.

Until then, keep rockin' the summer, go out to see local shows and enjoy the warm weather. East coast, I dunno who you are, but we're coming to find you.

The new record is called Fake Fake and will be available on CD & LP this November on Modern Radio. We've posted the song Hybrid Animal from the record over on the AUDIO page. Check it out!

We mastered the new album this week. What does that mean for you? It means Empty Nest Syndrome as we prepare to send this little guy out into the real world. But, before we can move him, we gotta give him a name, give him something to wear, and find him a home.

Two out of those three things are taken care of, but we're not ready to announce it just yet. I'll tell you this, though: 10 tracks. November. Get your guest bedroom ready for our newest arrival.

Welcome to the new STNNNG website! I got a little bored with the old colors, and I wanted to update the layout a bit to make way for new goodies, so an entire Saturday later, here we are.

You might notice I've added a few new things to the site - a handful of new photos, a live video, and information regarding Stuck on AM 5, the latest release to bear the STNNNG name.

Speaking of new releases, our recording session with Mike went very well last week. Adam's away on vacation, but after he returns home, we'll be knee-deep in getting this thing mastered (not to mention a number of shows). Expect an announcement soon about how and when our followup to Dignified Sissy will be released.

For now, though, enjoy the new site. Feel free to drop us a line with anything else you might like to see on the page.

March 29, 2006
Spring has sprung, and that means there is activity aplenty on the upcoming show calendar. Most recently, STNNNG are pleased to announce that we will be opening for England's legendary band, The Fall, on Monday, May 29th at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis. Pre-sale tickets for this 21+ show are $18 and are available for purchase online here.

We've been working hard in our rehearsal space finishing songs for the follow-up album to last year's well-received Dignified Sissy. Much of the material has been in our set lists for some time, but we've got a handful of new songs that will be recorded in May's upcoming session with Mike Lust. There is no release date for this as-yet-untitled record as we are in the process of contacting labels for interest, but we're hoping to unleash it to the world by the end of the year.

Prior to our work in the studio, we will be embarking on the I'M THE SPIRIT INSIDE THIS STUPID MACHINE tour of the midwest with our friends FT (The Shadow Government) and Call Me Lightning. This bill will be appearing in Minneapolis, Iowa City, Milwaukee & Chicago at the end of April.

On Saturday, April 29, on our way from Iowa City to Milwaukee, we'll be stopping by WNUR in Evanston, IL to play a set that will air later that night between 4 and 7pm. If you live in Chicago, you can tune in to 89.3 FM to hear it. Elsewhere, you can listen online.

Copies of Ladies & Gentlemen #2 are going fast. I've been told that they should be in local stores relatively soon at places like Treehouse.

This update is stuffy as hell and kinda reads like a science textbook or some equally boring brochure or pamphlet or something, doesn't it? Sorry about that, I am. I just woke up from a nap so I can stay up late enough to go see a show on a weeknight. I assure you, though, that there is much excitement around all of this news here in STNNNGtown. Come see us on Friday and it will be apparent.

Over and out.

Ladies & Gentlemen
#2 is now available. Click here to order it while you can - they are limited to 1,000 pressings and the last issue sold out.

We've got a couple of free shows in March, and it's worth mentioning - we have one more local show in April, and then we're not playing again until June. So, y'know, it's a good time to come out if you've been meaning to see us. We'll be debuting a few new songs and maybe even some surprises. We guarantee a good time, or your money back.

That show in April? It's kicking off a tour. I wrote about it last month, but it bears repeating, because it's gonna be sweet. Followed by recording. Oh man. Is anyone ready for another full-length?

Finally, I set up e-mail accounts for everyone in the band, so if you need to get in touch with anyone in particular with questions, you can. Just check out the contact page.

Just a quick update: In addition to buying direct from Modern Radio, you can now download Dignified Sissy from iTunes, Rhapsody, Yahoo! Music & eMusic.

At some point in the near future, we will also have an order page on the website so you can order non-musical items such as this Tom Stack-designed t-shirt. The musical stuff can be purchased from our respective labels or the aforementioned music download sites.

Last night's shows with The Plastic Constellations and Doomtree were absolutely mind-bogglingly good. Every band brought it hard (including openers Shoe Shiners and The Hawaii Show), and we feel incredibly fortunate to have been a part of it all. Thanks to everyone who came, and big, special thanks to The Plastic Constellations for inviting us. They're leaving for tour today, and if they're in your town, you should absolutely go see them. Their new album, Crusades, is a masterpiece, and they're ready to throw down the gauntlet just for you.

Yesterday also capped off a string of shows for January, and looking at the calendar, we are going to make scarce for the next 3 months as we work toward finishing the next record. You want details? I've got them. But first, something else - I'M THE SPIRIT INSIDE THIS STUPID MACHINE TOUR.

We're hitting up the midwest in short-and-sweet fashion beginning on Thursday, April 27th with our friends FT (The Shadow Government) and Call Me Lightning, culminating with a big blowout at the Empty Bottle in Chicago on Sunday, April 30. Check the shows page for more details.

Then, when we wake up the morning of May 1st, we're driving across town, back to the Phantom Manor where the new album is going to take shape. Mike Lust at the helm, 9 songs already in the bag, and things are looking good. Depending on what happens between now and then, you should be able to expect the new record by fall.

Finally, issue #2 of Ladies & Gentlemen arrives on February 17th. A 24-page magazine including a 180g 12" slab of vinyl featuring 8 bands' exclusive tracks. I can't wait to see it, read it, and hear it. More information (including how to preorder) available at the magazine website.

Totes excited.

Our 2005 victory lap through Omaha, St. Louis & Chicago was a great success. Special thanks to Steven, Mike & Erik for putting the shows together, all the bands that played with us, and everyone who came out to see us. Let's do it again real soon.

This year has been absolutely surreal, and we're looking forward to an amazing 2006. We've got some great shows lined up in January to start the year off right, February marks the release of Ladies & Gentlemen #2 (the included LP includes a track from us, as well as many other great bands), and we're gearing up to go back in the studio and finish our next album with Mike Lust sometime in April/May.

Here's what we know about the record: Nothing! How is it coming out? What is it called? How many tracks? What will the artwork look like? We hope to answer some of these questions in the next 6 months.

Until then, enjoy the rest of your 2005, have a safe & happy New Year's, and we'll see you in the 0-6.

A couple of quick notes:

-Our 3rd Annual Lunch Show is tomorrow at the 7th St. Entry. Doors are at noon, food will be provided and it's an all-ages event - a rarity downtown. Come one, come all! We'll also be playing in Duluth that evening. After the lunch show, we get a small breather from local shows, which brings me to tidbit #2...

-Ladies & Gentlemen #2 hits the stands on January 27th. There is going to be a release show at the 7th St. Entry on Saturday, January 14th, and we're proud to be a part of it. The show is still being put together, but I will add it to the SHOWS page once it is confirmed.

As previously noted, the magazine includes a 12" LP, along with interviews, creative writings, artwork & other various musings, and we've contributed the song Tactics to the LP. After seeing the final track listing, we're very excited to have been asked to contribute. More information about the issue itself can be found here.

Here is the track listing:

SIDE A:
Fog - Silurian
Akron/Family - Positive Vibration Force
STNNNG - Tactics
Coctails - Waterlogged (JJ version)

SIDE B:
Sonore featuring Ken Vandermark, Peter Brötzmann & Mats Gustafsson - Florence Cadenza (Live in Italy)
Dirty Three - Lisa's Mountain
The Buddyrevelles - The Foreigner
Odd Nosdam - 'Check out...' & '... My Melody'

See y'all tomorrow.

A couple weeks ago, the City Pages contacted us about having our photo taken for the forthcoming "Picked to Click" issue. You see, every year, they ask various people involved with local music (critics, label heads, promoters, DJs, etc.) who their favorite emerging bands are. And, well, turns out we won. The issue is out now, which means we can finally let the cat out of the bag.

You may or may not have noticed, but we've added a PRESS page to the website, so you can read up on reviews & interviews.

Additionally, I've added links to our album art for each of our releases on the AUDIO page, and I hope to add more information regarding what went into making those records sometime in the (hopefully) not-too-distant future. I also fixed the pictures on the VISUAL page to display properly on Internet Explorer, but nobody complained previously so maybe you didn't care to begin with.

Lots of great shows coming up this month, so whether you've recently found out about us or have been there since day 1, this is a good stretch of time to come hang out.

Friends, I have a slew of news!

First, at the beginning of last month, STNNNG was nominated for two Minnesota Music Awards - "Best Punk Band" and "Best Punk Recording", for Dignified Sissy. The award show takes place on Wednesday, September 21st in the First Avenue Mainroom, and in addition to being nominated, we've also been invited to perform at the ceremony.

Second, we again hooked up with our good friend & engineer, David Storberg, and tracked the song Tactics, which will appear in the upcoming issue of Ladies and Gentlemen. For the uninitiated, L&G is the brainchild of Erik Westra, the former editor of First Avenue's Foundation, and Dan Ibarra & Michael Byzewski, the fine folks over at Aesthetic Apparatus.

Each issue of L&G comes with a 12" LP, featuring bands who are involved in some way within the pages of the magazine. The first issue included tracks from The Hold Steady and Iron & Wine (among others), and we are very proud and flattered to have been asked to contribute to issue #2. The issue is expected sometime in mid-January.

Third, we are heading back to Chicago in mid-September to start work on the next album. Mike Lust will again be manning the soundboard, pushing buttons, directing traffic and lookin' good. We'll be laying down about half an album worth of tracks and hope to be back in the studio sometime in the spring.

Finally, shows keep cropping up and are constantly being added to the schedule, so keep your eyes on the calendar. If you're in the midwest, we'll possibly be in your neighborhood by year's end.

Summer's almost over. Go out and enjoy it.

It's been a long time coming, but I finally added information to the INFO and LINKS pages, as well as pictures to the VISUAL page. I also threw on two more mp3s - Ready the Replicas from our album, Dignified Sissy, and I held it; for an instant, I knew what it was...and then it was vanished., from our split 7" with The Means. A press page will be coming soon.

In addition to those tasks, I've streamlined the site a bit more so it should load more quickly, and I've also figured out how to make the links more readable and friendly with the bright red background.

As if that's not enough, there are a slew of SHOWS coming up as well, including tonight's soiree with WIVES from Los Angeles. Posters are coming down as fast as we can put them up, so either it's a hot ticket, or people dig the hell out of DWITT's design (I know I do). Come help us find out!

Finally, on that aforementioned SHOWS page, you can find a link to a list of past shows and finally see where we've been, and not just where we're going.
